When it comes to faucets, cheaper isn’t always better—especially if your family’s health is at risk. Moen recently commissioned an eye-opening study from IAPMO, testing top-selling off-brand faucets, and the results were alarming.
The Results About Off-Brand Faucets:
- 90% of tested off-brand faucets failed to meet American safe drinking water standards.
- The worst tested faucet contained carcinogens at levels 590% above allowable safety limits.
- Many faucets tested positive for lead and other toxic chemicals, significantly increasing the risk of serious health issues, including cancer, kidney damage, and decreased lung function.
Why It Matters:
Between 2020 and 2024, around 35 million off-brand faucets entered U.S. homes. These faucets are inexpensive, but many aren’t properly tested or certified for safety, putting millions at risk.
How to Stay Safe:
Always choose faucets that are NSF-certified to meet U.S. safety standards—like Moen’s kitchen and bath faucets, which undergo rigorous testing and come with a lifetime warranty.
